Astronomical Imaging
The development of telescopes and new astronomical imaging technologies are looking outward to give us images and perspectives never before realized.  By forming images directly through earth-based telescopes, space-based telescopes, and interplanetary probes, and by forming images based on different forms of electromagnetic radiation, images inspire fascination, wonder, and beauty.  Addressing fundamental questions about the origin and formation of the universe, and searching for other planets and forms of life, scientists using astronomical imaging are continually improving the way they detect signals, form images, and share those images with the public.  Remarkable comparisons can be made between the images we see across all size scales, from the atomic up to the astronomic.
